The 25th Annual Youth/Novice Fall Shoot took place on September 26, 2026 during Provincial Hunting Day.
In 2007, the Alberta Hunter Education Instructors’ Association (AHEIA), petitioned the Government of Alberta to create a Provincial Hunting Day. AHEIA has successfully held events every year since. This special day allows youth and the unitiated to experience an additional upland game bird hunting opportunity and learn proper hunting, including ethics and responsible hunting practices from experienced hunters. This also provides an opportunity for seasoned hunters to share their love of the outdoors. This initiative helps ensure that Alberta continues the strong tradition of hunting, which provides outdoorsmen and women the opportunity to experience conservation and a connection to the land.
To date close to 10,000 participants including coaches and mentors have participated at our Calgary Firearms Centre and our Alford Lake Centres for excellence.
Students enjoyed trap, skeet, sporting clays, rifle shooting, dog demonstrations, fly tying, rattling antler making, archery, field simulations, shooting from layout duck blinds, field techniques, tracking and more.
Pheasants Forever is a proud sponsor of the annual event.
